About Betty Clarberg

Betty Clarberg "Pin-Pin""The flowers she creates are turned into poetic images rich in detail. With the help of a brush and paint she makes us sensitive to the individual flower’s delicate and subtle soul. Curious and almost intrusive, one is able to observe nature’s inner essence and we are privileged to experience beauty far beyond ordinary. When looking at Betty’s work, one feels joy; even in the course of a long and cold winter, these paintings enable us to sense and anticipate the upcoming spring."

Betty Clarberg was born in Hong Kong. At the age of two her family moved to France and later on to Belgium where she grew up.

After her high school graduation in 1973 Betty moved to Sweden and began studying at the "Berghs Reklam- och Marknadsskola" in Stockholm. Three years later she got her diploma in Graphic Design and practiced this profession for the following 17 years.

Betty has travelled a lot and been living in many countries, all rich in both art history and culture and which became multiple sources of inspiration. One of these countries was The Netherlands where she and the family settled down in the summer of 1998. Throughout this period of her life, Betty could embark on her life-long desire to draw and paint, which she could not fulfil while actively working in Sweden.

Consequently she started taking courses in both painting and drawing at the art school "De Haagse Teken en Schilder School". She took lessons in France as well (Atelier Truffino).

The variety and beauty of the Dutch floral richness inspired Betty and became the theme of her first exposition. Following the success of her floral depictions, flowers have become her trademark.

During her artistic journey Betty experimented with several different methods, from drawing to pastel to oil painting and aquarelle. However, the harmonisation of colours as well as the contrast between light and depth that she was able to achieve with oil painting ultimately made this technique her favourite.

Since the summer of 2011, Betty is living in France and continues to explore the infinite richness of painting.

But after this long period dedicated almost exclusively to painting flowers, Betty was in search of a new motivation; thus in 2015 she began to explore other styles and evolves now towards a more diversified artistic work. These give great emphasis to her imagination, mixing abstract and representational inspirations, with always the same care for details and colors.
